Frequently Asked Questions

I have a poor mix and it may be due to the poppet control rod slipping. How do I fix this? (Regarding the Model #1378 Mixing Machine)

With the counter at zero and the dasher at the top of its stroke, move to the rear of the machine.    Locate the dasher rod arm (#10) and the set screw holding the poppet control rod (#13).  Loosen the set screw using a 3/32nds allen wrench.  Push the rod up as far as it will go.  You may feel a slight spring resistance due to it coming in contact with the poppet valve.  This is normal.  Tighten the set screw with the rod all the way up.  If you change this screw, be certain that it is replaced with a knurl cup set screw.
Stroke Adjustment:
  • To adjust the stroke, use a clean pot and dasher assembly just as you would when mixing with one exception: remove the metal screen (228090).
  • Raise the pot so that the chamfer on the inside of the pot is level with the top of the lower cage plate assembly (#12).  Cycle the machine.  You should see the pot assembly (#23) make a slight dip.  This indicates that the dasher is contacting the bottom of the pot assembly.
To Adjust:
  • Loosen (#15) lock nut and hose attached to the poppet tube (#71).  Screw tube in (clockwise direction) to shorten the stroke and out (counter-clockwise direction) to lengthen the stroke.  Adjust one or two full turns at a time until the desired adjustment is achieved.
DANGER:    ALWAYS use caution around the equipment ESPECIALLY when it is plugged in and/or cycling.
